Pennsylvania 2023 Election Results
Sara Innamorato was elected Tuesday as the first woman to lead Allegheny County government, a historic moment that came after she received more than 50% of the vote, avoiding a runoff in the May primary. Incumbent County Executive Rich Fitzgerald did not seek re-election.
Innamorato, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Heather Heidelbaugh in the general election. Heidelbaugh, a businesswoman and Allegheny County councilwoman, conceded the race Wednesday morning.
Innamorato will take office in January. She will be the first woman to lead Allegheny County since it was formed in 1788.
