Audrey Abbott, the adopted daughter of Governor Greg Abbott of Texas, has lived her life relatively out of the public eye.
Abbott, who was re-elected to a third term on Tuesday, has not spoken publicly about his daughter, and her name does not appear in any of his campaign materials.
According to public records, Audrey Abbott was adopted by Abbott and his wife, Cecilia Phalen, in 2007.
Abbott, a Republican, is a vocal opponent of abortion and has signed into law several measures restricting access to the procedure in Texas.
In 2021, Abbott signed into law a bill that banned abortions after six weeks, before many women know they are pregnant.
The law was blocked by a federal court, but it remains in effect while the legal challenges play out.
