Russian-born Varvara Gracheva expressed her pride and honor after winning her first match since becoming a French citizen. The young professional tennis player defeated Irina-Camelia Begu 7-5, 6-3 on Court Suzanne-Lenglen at the French Open.
Gracheva's Journey to French Citizenship
Gracheva, 22, was born in Moscow but moved to France at a young age. She has been living and training in the country ever since. In June 2021, she announced her decision to apply for French citizenship, which was granted in February 2023.
